Another good day and another relatively restful night, thanks to Decadron.

Even though yesterday Howard was not as ambitious as on Thursday, nevertheless the only Biofreeze needed during the day was around the compensatory muscles the back of her neck and shoulders. These always yell when she's spent an extended time at the computer monitor.

A new concern resulting from this new drug, though, is one we discovered two days ago and since it is new and hasn't retreated, Decadron gets the credit: It increases the urge to cry when something gets frustrating or edgy. This is uncharacteristic of Howard and really ticks her off when it happens. AND it's another datum in her consideration of whether it's worth it to continue the medication.

And so these are days of evaluation. We are both getting more sleep at night, a real plus. What abilities to move Howard has left are done with greater ease, mostly without pain, another vote in favor. But the distortions of her perception and the effects on her emotions don't set well with her, so we wait and see.

Have a delightful Saturday.
Dianne

That Decadron is an interesting drug. It has been one of my pre-meds for chemo; it helps with nausea. I have taken both 10 mg. and 20 mg. doses, and usually feel "speedy." I am usually so buzzed the day I take it that I have trouble falling asleep. It also makes me hungry, hungry. The emotions close to the surface are typical of steroids, also. I know you've heard of "'roid rage."

I hope the solution will emerge soon.

Much love to you both,
Jennifer

I wish it weren't such a trade off. Being pain free has to be good for body and soul, but I understand you don't want to swap one problem for another.
