With the exception of side effects of concern, Howard continues to do well on Decadron with another good day yesterday and a fairly good night last night. We did have more turnovers last night than the previous two, but overall she rested better than before beginning the drug.
Another of my concerns is that when she's not in such pain, she stretches her available resources then becomes exhausted and that totally frustrates her. It's just another adjustment to make, but any extra exertion can cause her to become short of breath and since "feeling" better, she forgets that her lungs and heart are just where they were when Decadron began. Odd but there's something almost sinister about the drug--it gives an illusion that the body is healing when actually it just feels better.
These are new issues to us so we've got to decide what to do with them.
